“I knew that at Pratt & Whitney I would find plenty of opportunities, but that if I wanted to move, I would have opportunities within the other business units as well.”

Financial Leadership Program: Overview

How does the Financial Leadership Program help new associates transition into the program?
"The FLP provides a smooth transition for new associates into the program as well as the UTC culture. It starts with an interactive two-day orientation, which allows new associates to get to know one another as well as learn about UTC and the program itself. Once on the job, associates spend a full month cross training with the current FLP associate whom they will be replacing, learning not only the job responsibilities, but the UTC culture as well. New associates use updated, standardized work procedures to efficiently transition into the fast-paced UTC environment. Each associate is assigned to a FLP mentor as well as a senior-level mentor, both of whom provide a supportive relationship. Each business unit also has an Action Committee member who serves as a direct FLP contact and provides further guidance. In addition, each business unit has its own FLP project team, which further solidifies the networking opportunities between associates and allows us to work in a team environment outside of our specific job function. Each team allows the associates to develop their leadership skills as well as form supportive relationships among our peers. In general, all new FLP associates are quickly introduced to a supportive network of diverse talent in which we are all able to create a solid support group within UTC."
