Product and Process Development Engineer

UTC Power is a proven, single-source provider of clean power solutions. As one of the newest members of the United Technologies Corp. family, UTC Power is able to draw on the expertise of some of the more established divisions, including the industry leaders in fuel cell technology and building heating, cooling and control systems.

UTC Power is seeking a Product and Process Development Engineer to be stationed on-site at a key supplier to support the development and production of fuel cell components for the next generation transportation and on-site power applications. UTC Power is a growing division of UTC focused on environmentally advanced power solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting electrode production from concept generation, detail design, and verification through production validation while managing and overseeing key supplier processes.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in all phases of development and production of electrodes for phosphoric acid and PEM fuel cells in conjunction with a key UTC Power supplier. Component cost, performance, supplier deliveries and quality are key areas that will be driven by the successful individual. The position will report to the UTC Power Technology Development Engineering group and will support Integrated Product Development team leads for multiple programs. Day to day activities will include facilitating experiments, reviewing production, development and quality information, taking part in regular team meetings and interacting with the supplier on all facets of their development and production processes.

B.S or M.S. in Engineering, Materials Science or related field with demonstrable technical experience related to the position.

5 years in a development environment with exposure to production start-up and/or transition from pilot scale to a manufacturing environment with sustained experience interacting with or managing suppliers.

The candidate should have strong decision making, organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills and must be able to work independently.

Position is located in the United Kingdom at a UTC Power supplier. Initial assignment will be located at UTC Power in South Windsor, CT for two months of training before deploying to a local assignment in the United Kingdom.
