Pratt and Whitney, a subsidiary of UTC, is a world leader in the design, manufacture and support of engines for commercial, military and regional aircrafts, as well as a leader in the production of space propulsion systems.

We are looking for bright undergraduate and graduate students to work as co-ops and interns. We have a number of exciting opportunities in the Mechanical Systems and Externals Engineering Organization in East Hartford, CT. The major programs in the organization are the Joint Strike Fighter (F135), the Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) and other advanced commercial and military engine programs. The main responsibility will be:

All aspects of structural analysis by finite element analysis, testing, and validation of externals hardware such as tubes, brackets, harnessess, ducts and mounts.

Qualified candidate will participate on multi disciplinary integrated product teams to iterate configuration with the design team, to resolve supplier and/or customer problems and to advance component technology or design methods.

The successful candidates should be willing to work in a team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as are good listening skills. While team leaders will direct much of the work, the ability to take the initiative and to work in a self-motivated manner will be highly appreciated.

This is an intern position May/June - August, 2010 and is located in East Hartford, CT.

Working towards BS or MS in ME or equivalent. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is necessary.
Undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical design and advanced CAD/CAM/CAE applications. Knowledge of UG, ANSYS and other FEA software is a plus.
